Neon Painted Geometric Candle Holders

The very thought of Spring being right around the corner fills me with joy! There is so much to look forward to like, Easter dresses, Spring break, gardening, graduations and weddings - oh my!

So as we all head into spring mode, I thought I would begin by brightening things up around our place. First stop, Cost Plus World Market,  which is one of my favorite go to places for unique and affordable home decor. I can honestly tell you, it was love at first sight when I saw these hexagon wood and vintage brass tealight holders. So you can imagine how delightfully shocked I was when I flipped one over and saw $3.99 staring back at me!  As in, I could pay in quarters if I really wanted to! What a deal! I'm thinking these would especially work well for DIY weddings and parties this Spring!

Which brings me to my favorite aspect about these; they are extremely DIY friendly, and easily to personalized with just a little paint. I've always found Martha Stewart craft paints to be reliable so I went with her best and brightest for this project.  If bright doesn't float your boat you could just tone it down with pretty pastels or a monochrome!

Step 1: Clean wood holders so they are free of dust and ready to paint.

Step 2: Use painter's tape to create triangle stencils. You can also block off half of the top and just paint one side.

Step 3: It's important to prime the wood, otherwise the wood will bleed through, so paint each section white before applying color.

Step 4: Paint each section with a different neon color. I used, pink, green grey and grey. The grey is not neon but I thought it went well with the green :)

Step 5. Remove tape,  and allow to dry for about 20 minutes. Finally, add candles and enjoy!

Recap:  You can get these extremely affordable hexagon wood and vintage brass tealight holders at World Market - GO!
