A Charming Project

DIY Embroidery Hoop Ciao Sign

You know those jeans you've been holding on to forever, but rarely wear anymore? Well, this project is for you! Add a little handmade charm to your walls with this easy embroidery hoop wall sign. If you've never tried embroidering, you have to try it - it's so addicting! I decided on a friendly,  "ciao" since I was watching an episode of Anthony Bourdain in Tuscany while drinking a cappuccino!  Inspiration is everywhere!

If this is your first time working with embroidery floss, please do check out this article from MostCraft for more info.

Materials: Jeans, embroidery floss, embroidery needles, embroidery hoop, dressmaker's pencil/chalk pencil, scissors (not pictured).

I used a chalk pencil to draw my message by hand.

Secure your fabric to the embroidery hoop.

I used a simple back stitch to stitch over my chalk outline. If you're a beginner - like me - you'll want to visit Urban Threads for a quick stitch tutorial.

Finally, cut the excess fabric from around the hoop, and hang on you wall.

Giving new life to an old item is one of my favorite things to do, and I love that this also makes for a perfect re-purposed gift!

Made with love,

Enid
