It's summer and banana leaves are popping up all over the place: throw pillows, wall paper, art prints, home accents and fashion. This "Martinique" trend is clearly inspired by the wallpaper at the Beverly Hills Hotel Cafe, which was added in the 1940's.
I have to admit, it took me a while to warm up to this trend, not at all because I dislike trends, but because it kind of reminds me of 1988 when my mom had our sofa reupholstered with a similar LARGE print...and I'm slightly traumatized. Now she can be like, "See...I was way ahead of my time." lol
But I swear, I've recanted!
These five modern leaf projects are amazing! I would happily make and keep each one in my home - maybe not all at once - but they evoke a feeling of summer, vacation, and "let's get this party started!" So I'm down!
Wishing you an inspired week!
